How can I get the kids into eating the right foods? I often struggle getting them to even look at certain types of food especially vegetables, never mind eat them.
There are a number of ways but most of all you need perseverance. In my experience I have found familiarity goes a long way. Here are a few ideas
    FAMILIARISE
If your child doesn’t like a certain type of food it’s usually because they aren’t familiar with it. The best way to familiarise with something is to introduce the food to teatime visually i.e. always include them on the plate. DON’T GIVE UP! It’s normal for it to take several times before they even look at it.
    STEALTH
Integrate them into a meal by making a puree and mix it in with some mash or grating roots into a cottage pie for example. This will introduce the flavours without your kids knowing.
    FUN
Try and make it fun. I like to make fun foams which are essentially essences infused into warm milk similar to say a flavoured latte. This is a way of giving them a hint of the flavour which in my experience helps break down the taste barrier later.

I am quite new to cooking and would like to buy a decent set of knives what would you recommend.
You cannot go wrong with Victorinox. They are fantastic quality for the price.
